Hop a freight train with two hobos, a little girl, and her best friend who lives in a coffee can.
Hobo Code is the debut podcast from Hammer Canyon Productions. Created by Paul Pakler (Paul and Corey Cross the Streams on Fanbase Press) and Daytime Emmy-nominated writer Shane Portman (Tumble Leaf, Shape Island), it stars Becky Poole (AppleTV’s Strange Planet), Corey Rieger (Out of the Furnace), and Jake Robertson (The Sound of Liberty on Apple Podcasts), with Susan Ruttan (L.A. Law, Shameless, Sprung) and Bill Pullman (The Sinner, Independence Day, While You Were Sleeping).
It also features an original soundtrack composed by Maesa Pullman and engineered by Jason Hiller of Electrosound Records, featuring a full spectrum of folk, blues, and jazz music.
The series takes us to 1934, when eight-year-old Elizabeth “Buts” Wyland enlists the help of Gadabout Jack, an acerbic rambler, and Brother Isaac, a self-ordained monk, to run away from her aunt and uncle’s Alabama farm. The three travel America on a quixotic search for Buts’ parents in California.
Hobo Code is an epic journey spanning from the Roaring Twenties to the Great Depression, all the way to the Great Recession of 2008, in a story of love, loss, and whatever you can fit in your bindle.
